Art Journal Cards - Blooms

Hi everyone! It is snowing outside on this sunny May Day! Yup... Snow! So, what a great time to do a little fun art journal "Bloom" page! I started off making an art journal spread, but it turned into two art cards! That is the beauty of art journaling... no rules! LOL!!

I stamped and embossed the flowers using AB Studio stamps id253 and id254. I then  painted them with water downed Distress Inks (Evergreen Bough, Shaded lilac, Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon, and Wilted Violet). I then fussy cut them and started on my backgrounds. I used the same distress inks, a couple stencils and stamps and splatters here and there. I then stamped my images onto my art journal spread, and pasted the fussy cut ones down. I decided to make 2 cards instead of a spread... that was just what was calling to me! LOL!!

I added a quote from Tim Holtz Ideology sticker book, "Small Talk". I edge each with Black Soot distress paint, stamped a few butterflies and voila! Done!!

What a fun way to spend a snowy cold May Day!

I am submitting these to the following challenges:

International Art & Soul - Flowers and Butterflies - WON Top 3

Stamplorations - May Stencil

Thanks so much for taking a peek! And I do hope your May day is better than mine!

AVJ - Window on my World

This month at A Vintage Journey, the challenge is to make a piece with a window to represent a Window on my World. Right now, my world is all about ART and looking out my studio window, I see the first gentle fall of snowflakes!

This piece I made is made with a computer board, that I gessoed, added embellishments, paints, waxes and sprays! It is about 14" long and sits on my desk at the moment!

Thanks for the great challenge and to remind me to take a moment to see what is outside my window! Even if it is snow!

Thanks for taking a peek!

Happy Birthday "A Vintage Journey"

Hi all! It is a birthday celebration at A Vintage Journey this month and what a better way to celebrate their journey but to do an art journal page for this month!

I used tons of inks, paint, #5's and a lot more goodies!

I think it is pretty obvious that "Journey" and Happy 5th Birthday is the theme for this little page!

Happy Birthday AVJ!!!

A Vintage Journey

Good morning all! Thought I would share an art journal page I made for this month's
challenge at A Vintage Journey. The challenge is to "Put a Stamp on it". Well... doing art journaling allows me to use my stash of stamps to add texture to the background of my piece.

Lots of stamping and an inky mess!

Thanks for taking a peek!

A Vintage Journey - June 2018

Hello all! It has been a while and I apologize to my blog for neglecting her! I promise to be more worthy!

So… I am posting this mini file folder that I made for a challenge at A Vintage Journey. I love the vintage feel to things, and it has been a while since I created anything in this style... so this month was the perfect opportunity to do so. I also love stencils, and this whole thing was done with them!

I also took inspiration from Astrid and her post on using file folders! I looked in my stash and found these adorable little file folders from 7 Gypsies, so that is where the inspiration started.

It was a fun little project! Thanks for taking a peek!

A Vintage Journey - February challenge

At A Vintage Journey this month the gals have an amazing challenge...

Welcome to a our new challenge for February 2016. Our challenge this month is :

INDUSTRIAL

"Use your foil tape, metallic card stock along with your Texture Fades/Embossing Folders to create an industrial creation all your own.

Whether it's a background or bloom or metal embellishments; don't limit your paint colour to black..... industrial can look great in all colours!

The Creative Guides have created a wide array of industrial projects to inspire you on your journey.

You really need to check out this Tim inspired blog! Some amazing talent there for sure!

I did another art journal type page for my Tim Holtz art journal!

As today is Valentine's Day, I made this to honour my dear husband!

I first used TH tissue, and painted over it with black soot and peacock feathers distress paint. I used some foil tape and ran it through my bigshot using TH honeycomb embossing folder. I then found a piece of silver plain cardstock and ran that through my bigshot using a new die set I got, TH thinlits. added some molding paste using TH stencils, added a photo from TH found relatives cards, added a couple tickets, a couple little words, edged the page in black soot distress paint.. and voila! Done!

Oh.. and a little side note.... I was one of January's pinworthies too!
Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments!  Check it out here.

Have a fantastic Valentines Day!
