7 Dots - URBAN

Good Morning all!

Today I am sharing with you my interpretation of an "URBAN" theme.

That was challenges to us by 7 Dots .  I love 7 Dots paper, but unfortunately there are not any suppliers in the area I live... so I used a few bits and pieces I have hoarded away!

The challenge is to use an urban theme, and this inspirational board...

Urban is usually something I don't do, but this inspired me to do a layout, that I have not done for ages.

I used a page from a colouring book I have, Fantastic Cities.... using houses as a background, how urban is that!

I used 7 Dots - Wonderland Quadrille paper (love the 4 squares), and 9th wave alpha stickers.
I also used Tattered Angels sprays, TH Dots Fade stencil, and Magenta brick stamp.. plus an assortment of metal bits and pieces I have stashed away! The photo is one I found on Pinterest by the artist Charles Leval.... he has some very interesting street art photos!

I painted all my metal embellishments black, and added some bronze to highlight them.
I have to say, I am pleased with how it turned out... and thanks for the awesome challenge 7 Dots!

Thanks for taking a peek at my creation, and if 7 Dots wants a supplier in southern Ontario, they can call me! I love their products!!

true LOVE

Hi there! It has been ages since my last post! It is amazing how life gets in the way of my creating!

I made a photo frame for my dear son and his girlfriend for a couple of challenges this month! I love altering items using mixed media and just had to do something with the photo I used....it was just to adorable not to!

First off, from  Mixed Media World, we had to go from Scrap to Masterpiece for this month's challenge..... so I pulled out a frame I have had forever, gessoed it. and added an assortment of bits and pieces I have had for a long time!

After adding layers and layers of spray inks, I finally got the look I was searching for...

I am also using this for the 2nd year anniversary over at Mixed Media Monthly, where we are to use a challenge from the past year. I chose #23, Dimension.

Using flowers, wood veneers, and random metal pieces, I have added dimension to this frame...

Thanks for taking a peek!

Soul Sisters

Hi all! I have been busy creating some art journal pages and a canvas these past few days!
Lots of ink, gel medium, and gesso! And mess! I was so happy!!

I created this 12 x 12 canvas using lots of old papers I had, lots of modeling paste, lots of flowers, metal bits and a few chipboard pieces and gems! And of course.. lots and lots of different ink sprays.

I usually don't do this color scheme, but it actually turned out better than I hoped!

I also am using this piece for a couple challenge blogs I follow...

The first one is over at ARTastic. We had to use this piece from John Miels for our inspiration, as well as typography somehow.

I took inspiration from the colors used in this piece for my canvas. Typography are the words on my base paper as well as these alphabet chippies I have had for forever.

The next challenge I used was from Mixed Media Mojo where we were challenge to recycle and use metal. I recycled the flower sprig at the far right.. it was on a piece I tore apart ages ago but could never find the right project to use it on. I also used a ton of metal embellishments on this too.

The last challenge is for Mixed Media Monthly Challenge where we were challenge to use dimension on our projects, which I think I achieved!

Thanks for taking a peek at my project!

A Vintage Journey - February challenge

At A Vintage Journey this month the gals have an amazing challenge...

Welcome to a our new challenge for February 2016. Our challenge this month is :

INDUSTRIAL

"Use your foil tape, metallic card stock along with your Texture Fades/Embossing Folders to create an industrial creation all your own.

Whether it's a background or bloom or metal embellishments; don't limit your paint colour to black..... industrial can look great in all colours!

The Creative Guides have created a wide array of industrial projects to inspire you on your journey.

You really need to check out this Tim inspired blog! Some amazing talent there for sure!

I did another art journal type page for my Tim Holtz art journal!

As today is Valentine's Day, I made this to honour my dear husband!

I first used TH tissue, and painted over it with black soot and peacock feathers distress paint. I used some foil tape and ran it through my bigshot using TH honeycomb embossing folder. I then found a piece of silver plain cardstock and ran that through my bigshot using a new die set I got, TH thinlits. added some molding paste using TH stencils, added a photo from TH found relatives cards, added a couple tickets, a couple little words, edged the page in black soot distress paint.. and voila! Done!

Oh.. and a little side note.... I was one of January's pinworthies too!
Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments!  Check it out here.

Have a fantastic Valentines Day!
